At first the draw of CrossFit was only physical. I wanted to learn how to do a handstand (pushup), double unders, climb a rope, and how to do the olympic lifts. I thought I would come in, learn the skills I wanted, and then leave and go back to lifting weights (yeah I was a total gym rat before CrossFit). But that all changed when I joined Crossfit Manassas. I didn’t realize I was becoming part of a community. I’ve never met so many people from all walks of life in one place that are supportive, encouraging, competitive, and push you to try your hardest like the members at Crossfit Manassas. I’m only 3 months into my crossfit journey and I can say that I’ve “Drank the Kool-aid”. I love the challenges that crossfit presents to me every day, and the gains I’ve noticed in my strength and endurance. But more than that I love the people that crossfit has brought into my life. I had no idea this crazy, awesome, challenging fitness world existed and I’m so glad I found it! And that it welcomed me with open arms!

Crossfit Shennaigans/Most proud moments:
-Being able to finally do a handstand against the wall! I have a had a fear of being upside down and not having the strength to hold myself up since before I can remember but now I love doing handstands and practice handstand pushups every chance I get!
– I still don’t know my 1 rep max but the day that I got a 3 rep max at 235lb I was pretty awesome.
– My 125lb Clean & Jerk (working on more weight!)
– Competing in a crossfit competition! (Yes, even though I had only been crossfiting for a couple of months) and finishing 5th out of 12 in the intermediate category.
– Most recently I just had a physical fitness test for my work and I maxed out my points for pushups! I was able to do 40 perfect form pushups in less than 1 min!
