305 Trackside Wedding – Callen and Caleb

Callen and Caleb’s 305 Trackside wedding was a perfectly elegant winter wedding in North Carolina. The color palette of navy, green, white and blush was the perfect complement to the antique brick interior at 305 Trackside.

Here in North Carolina it’s not often that we get snow, but we do tend to get a lot of rain in the winter and Callen and Caleb’s wedding day was no exception.

Lucky for them, the bride’s parents own Richmond Rentals so they were able to add tents and flaps to 305 Trackside’s outdoor covered patio to keep the rain out and the guests nice and comfortable.

This is a great example of why having a well thought out rain plan (that you can actually live with) is so important!

I’ve seen lots of couples not put time into coming up with their rain plan and then they are either A) left scrambling to fit everything under a barely large enough tent where no one can move or B) Left with a set-up that leaves them feeling lackluster because it does not match the vision that they had for their wedding day.

Here’s a few quick tips if you are getting married during a rainy time of year.

  1. Make sure that your venue can easily accommodate all of your guests with room to circulate about – even if you need to move the ceremony inside.
  2. Get quotes for tents and flaps (even if you don’t think you will need them). It’s better to know what to expect if they are needed than have it place a strain on your budget last minute when you’re left with no choice.
  3. Invest in some clear bubble umbrellas for yourself and your bridal party. As long as it isn’t a downpour we can often still take photos outside. Plus, the umbrellas are cute!
  4. Resign yourself to the fact that your dress will probably get wet and/or dirty.
  5. Bring some extra shoes to wear while we are out and about for photos. Flip flops, duck boots, or crocs work great.
