Wedding Inspiration Blog Profile – The Wedding Yentas

http://www.theweddingyentas.com/

How would you describe your blog’s style?

The Wedding Yentas has a style that’s casual and fun. The goal is that readers and I feel like we’re friends gossiping over coffee… or cocktails depending on the time of day. The style should reflect something entertaining and enjoyable to read while still providing useful information for brides in search of an education.

Who are your brides?

Brides who read The Wedding Yentas tend to be diverse, despite the Jewish angle as a blog for couples planning any kind of Jewish wedding. Most brides are reform or conservative American, mainstream Jewish brides. They are planning a high end wedding and want to incorporate the Jewish traditions that are meaningful to them. Yentas brides are also planning an interfaith wedding. Whether their partners are Jewish and they are not or the are Jewish and their partners are not, they are looking for information to help blend Jewish traditions with the beliefs of the other person. Then there are the brides who are not involved in any kind of Jewish wedding, but still want the expert advice or beautiful photo spreads to inspire their equally beautiful day. The Wedding Yentas does  not solely cover Jewish topics and ideas, so there really is something for everyone. Besides, J-wedding or not, flowers are flowers; table settings are table settings; Hairstyles are hairstyles — every bride wants to read about pretty things!

Your perfect submission in 5 words

Love Story, Photos, Awesome Vendors (5 words is hard!)

The thing about a submission that turns me off the fastest is…

a total disregard for the guidelines of my publication. Featured weddings on The Wedding Yentas must contain some sort of Jewish tradition. Even if it’s not a religious wedding or if it’s an interfaith wedding, I need to see something Jewishy — a chuppah? Stepping on the glass? A Horah dance? I also need a complete list of vendors. I mean COMPLETE. I don’t want just the venue and photographer. I believe in properly crediting all the hardworking and innovative vendors that help create the overall style of the wedding. This includes hair and makeup artists, florist, musicians, cake baker, bridal gown designer, jeweler, dress salon, and, in the case of a Jewish wedding, the chuppah company or Ketubah artist. Lastly, I need to know something juicy about the couple. Everyone has a great love story. The photos come to life so much more when readers can learn about the love between the couple. A blurb about the newlyweds or a retelling of their wedding day story help complete the submission. It always blows my mind how some photographers don’t know the couple and can’t provide the information themselves. I always tell readers that they should choose wedding photographers who are invested in their lives and wedding day.

I absolutely swoon when…

I receive a submission filled with details shots! I love to make inspiration boards with all of the delicious details. Eye candy is what brides want, and as a publisher, I want to give them beautiful examples to Ooo and Ahhh about. I’m also a sucker for a perfect shot of a romantic first kiss!
