For their engagement session, Jasmine and Alex returned to Great Falls Park – the same place that they got engaged.
Jasmine and Alex met bringing in the new year of 2012.
“We were both young, awkward, but always ready to have fun.” said Jasmine.
Alex: When I first saw Jasmine I thought she was a very down to earth; someone I could definitely be around.
Jasmine: When I met Alex I remember the first thing I thought was “Wow! His hair is really curly!” I’m pretty sure I informed him of this too. I also thought that he was a very kind hearted person.
After this day They hung out quite a few times, quickly becoming friends.
Fast forward 4ish years, and Jasmine and Alex finally got to go on their first date.
It was August 31st and they decided to go out to dinner at Sweetwater Tavern.
Alex: This was a day before her birthday and I wanted to celebrate with her by taking her out, but I also knew that this was going to be the day that I let her know how I truly felt about her.
Jasmine: It was funny because I actually gifted him a card at dinner saying how I felt too. We’ve been together ever since and he still has that card to this day.
Our relationship flourished quickly and we loved every minute of it.
“Our proposal was very special.” says Jasmine.
“We had gone out to Great Falls National Park with a few of our very close friends for a picnic.”
Alex: This was actually my 5th attempt at asking her to marry me. Every other time got cancelled due to something, but this time I was determined to make it happen. I told all of our friends beforehand what was going on and everyone was very excited for us. One of my friends was even able to photograph the very moment of the proposal. It was perfect.
Jasmine: He did great with surprising me! I love picnics and I was excited our friends wanted to go with us. After we ate we went to go walk around the trails and we ended up at overlook #2 looking at the rapids of the Potomac River. As I was walking away, Alex called my name and I turned around to find him on a knee. It was one of the best moments of my life.
Because we were in a public place we actually had an audience clapping for us and our special moment.
Alex: I feel most comfortable and in love when we are cuddling and just being together.
Jasmine: I feel most comfortable and in love whenever we are around each other. He doesn’t even have to be doing anything.
During our engagement session we had a surprise cameo!
Alex: I’m looking forward to saying “I do” and definitely nervous about the speeches from my best men.
Jasmine: I’m looking forward to seeing his face when he sees me in a wedding dress walking down to him! I’m definitely nervous about the vows, because I know I’m going to be crying through all of it.
