Summer nights are the best, am I right?
Bonfires, trips to the beach, fireflies, and hours of that lovely golden light at the end of the day.
Summer is the perfect time to plan an engagement session!

Don’t panic. I have everything that you need to plan your Summer engagement session right here.
FIRST, DECIDE THE VIBE YOU WANT.
Knowing whether you want your engagement session to be fun and edgy, elegant, or natural and laid back will affect your choice of location, the outfits that you wear, and how we approach planning your session so the first step is to get clear on how you want to feel.
If you are coming up blank I have a question that I ask all my couple while we are planning their engagement sessions to help you out:
[bctt tweet=”When and where do you feel most comfortable and in love with your fiance?”]
If you feel most cherished and loved when you are all dressed up for a special date night on the town we will plan a session with more formal dress in your downtown area.
Maybe you feel most in love when you are together outdoors…let’s go hiking in the great outdoors and capture your relationship against the backdrop of the mountains.
Beach people? break out those shades and the sunscreen!
NEXT, FIND THE PERFECT LOCATION.
I feel like it always adds an extra layer of awesome when we can incorporate a location that has special meaning to you as a couple.
Going back to the place where you got engaged is a great idea or you can just choose a favorite place to hang out and spend time.
If you are completely stuck and have no idea, that’s fine too. I am happy to have an excuse to go exploring and find you the perfect spot!
WARDROBE CHOICES
What you wear says a lot about who you are, so you want the outfits that you choose for your engagement session to tell the world who you are as a couple.
Don’t be afraid to put some personality into your wardrobe! Add scarves, graphic tees, statement necklaces, and don’t forget the shoes.
Rent The Runway is a great resource for super cute designer clothes that you don’t have to spend a fortune on.
Some couples might opt to have multiple outfits for their engagement session which is totally fine. I recommend no more than 2 outfits for a 1 hour session. It works nicely if one outfit is more casual and the other is a bit more dressy.
READY, SET…
As the day for your engagment session approaches try not to make any drastic changes to your appearance or try out new beauty products or services that you are not familiar with.
Now is not the time to try out facial waxing.
You may also want to consider having your hair and make-up professionally done for the session. It really does do wonders for how you look.
Lay out all of your clothes and accessories the day before your session so you can feel confident that everything is in order and won’t be left behind.
I recommend bringing a pair of comfortable shoes with you to the session in case we have to walk any length of time. It is also a good idea to pack a brush, mirror, hairspray, and some touch-up lipgloss in a small bag or backpack (keep in mind we have to carry this with us).
RELAX!
Once you arrive at your engagement session all of the hard work on your end is finished. Give yourself a high five for being so darned prepared and get ready to have a good time.
Having your picture taken can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.
Your only job at your engagement session is to slow down and focus on your fiance. I will woryy about getting us where we need to be and lighting and posing and all that other stuff – you just need to be present and have fun!
The way that I work with my couples is to create a space for you to connect and feel comfortable. I use suggested posing to guide you into poses that will be most flattering to you and your fiance while still looking completely natural and casual.
This process allows me to capture the joy that you are feeling as you get ready to commit your lives to each other and showcase your connection in a way that is effortless and simple.
