I had such a blast getting to see Brooke again and meeting Jason for their Pisgah Covered Bridge engagement session!
I have known Brooke for years because her sister is a friend of mine and it is so wonderful to see her so obviously in love and happy with Jason. They are such a sweet couple and were game when I suggested the Pisgah Covered Bridge for their session even though none of us had been there before. It turned out to be a great location for photos, right off a paved road with a short little walking trail.
Brooke and Jason met on a blind date. Neither had high expectations going into the date, but decided to give it a try…
“I didn’t know what to think about him at first.” said Brooke “He drove a giant, bright yellow Jeep. He had to be a total tool…. Turns out, he was very sweet and cute to boot!”
I love how Jason describes first seeing Brooke. He said she was a “Nice person, beautiful face, kind eyes. Let’s see where this goes.” A man who thinks you have kind eyes is always a keeper!
For their first date they kept it simple: dinner and good conversation. They went to Bonefish hoping for a fairly quiet evening. “I’d like to think it went well.” says Brooke, “We didn’t spend a weekend apart ( Jason lived in Fayetteville) after that until he bought a house in SP and I moved in about 2 years later.”
When it came to getting engaged, Brooke and Jason went a slightly unconventional route.
“So as you know, we kind of had the cart before the horse when it comes to our engagement/wedding. We had a date set and vendors booked before he officially proposed.”
When the proposal actually came, it was Sunday morning.
“I had just woken up and hadn’t even had time to put my glasses on. He leaned over with the ring in is hand and asked me “Would you like to wear this instead of your plastic one?” Needless to say I was shocked and absolutely elated. I knew he had gone to get my ring with my friend Bridget, but as far as I knew it was going to be a solid 6 weeks before it might be in. It was just over 2! It was 100% Jason and I loved it.”
