After Photographing Grace and Kevin’s wedding at the PNC Triangle Club in Durham I am surprised more couples don’t get married here! Especially if you are a baseball fan, a wedding at the PNC Triangle Club has so many cool things in it’s favor. You get to overlook the field during the reception, the space itself is lovely, the staff was wonderful to work with, and you are right next door to the American Tobacco Campus for stunning photo ops.
I first met Grace through her mother when I was hired to photograph the all-academy ball a few years ago when it was held here in Pinehurst. Both Grace and her husband Kevin are officers in the Marines. They met at the Naval Academy when Grace was a Sophomore and Kevin was a senior. They weren’t *really* supposed to be dating because they were in the same company, so they had their first date out of town. Things started getting serious, and Kevin decided there was only one thing to do – ask Grace’s dad for permission to marry her.
Kevin, being the kind of guy that he is, was adamant that he ask for her father’s blessing in person, but military life being what it is, making the timing work out to be in the same place at the same time never seemed to work out. It got to the point that it turned into a little joke between Kevin and Grace’s dad and finally her dad told Kevin that it would be okay if he asked over the phone. Kevin refused to phone it in (pun intended) because he wanted the first act towards them being married to be completed the right way, with no shortcuts -much like how he plans to honor the rest of their marriage.
I did not get to spend a lot of time with Grace and Kevin prior to the wedding, but just seeing them together for that short time you can tell that they will make a great team.
