I’d describe my blog as a blog with offbeat wedding inspiration that aims to help couples in the DC, MD and VA area plan and execute an affordable and personal wedding. I love featuring different weddings and couples (age, race, shape, religion, etc) and I love connecting couples to wedding vendors. I love inspire couples,  but helping is at the heart of my blog – I want to help couples have the wedding they want, their way, with a budget in mind.

I really like to connect with brides AND grooms that find Washington, DC’s wedding scene to be a bit too uptight, over-embellished and expensive. I want the couples with the $2k budget, I want the couples that want a Game of Thrones theme, or I want the couples that don’t care at all for details/being “blogworthy” – they just want to get married.

From a submission standpoint, I am turned off instantly by submissions that … don’t follow my submission policy – submissions from the wrong region, submissions that are super traditional/expensive, or submissions that are a poor representation of a couple (ie 18 shots of their mason jars and only 2 of the couple). I also tend to be in favor of non-posed, more photojournalistic submission – I prefer natural laughter and interactions over posed portraits.

photographers send me something fresh, something new, and something offbeat. I don’t want the same stuff on my blog over and over – this city is full of way too many diverse people to have wedding and engagement features look exactly the same! If no two people are the same, then no two weddings should be the same either. I want weddings that had reasoning and reflected the couples individual lives and relationship together!
