There are some things about living in Northern Virginia that aren’t the best – like the unbelievable, never ceasing traffic (Even on weekends! Even during the middle of the day!).  I don’t know that I will ever learn to love that.

But, something that Virgnia does have going for it is that Virginia has so many drop dead gorgeous amazing rustic winery wedding venues!

Pippin Hill Farm

From the blue and grey barns to the drop dead vistas right outside everything about Pippin Hill Farm is elegant, rustic, and awe inspiring.  Situated just south of Charlottesville, Virginia Pippin Hill Farm is the ultimate wedding venue if you are looking for laid-back elegance.  With a venue as lovely as this one you can be guarenteed that your wedding will be beautiful.  Everywhere you go here you feel like you can pull up a chair, relax, and enjoy yourself.

Stone Tower Winery

Nestled in the rolling hills outside Leesburg, Virginia Stone Tower winery has stunning views of the surrounding Shenandoah mountains and a beautiful vineyard full of quaint details.  The main tasting room is in a lovely barn and has tons of personality.  The new event space is both modern and rustic with the barrel room serving as a perfect space for the ceremony in case of rain.  The property also boasts a seperate cottage for getting ready that is full of natural light.

48 Fields

48 Fields is set just outside Leesburg, Virginia in the heart of wine and antiquing country.  The main event space is an old dairy barn that is being renovated.  The grounds have a tree swing, several rustic barns, a field full of tall grass and the most amazing sunsets you can image.  Truly a photographer’s dream!

Paradise Springs Winery

Paradise Springs Winery is just outside Clifton, Virginia nestled in a lovely vineyard right next to  Hemlock Overlook Regional Park.  Aside from being a beautiful backdrop for weddings and portraits, the property is full of history.  Originally, the property was part of a one-thousand acre land grant from Lord Fairfax in 1716 to the owner’s family’s direct ancestors and has been passed down through the generations since. The winery itself has a glassed in barrel room that is very dramatic, a rustic tasting room, and an outdoor porch overlooking the forest. The barn that houses the main tasting room was taken apart, individually numbered, and reassembled piece by piece on the property after being moved from just off Main Street in downtown Fairfax in 1956.  The log cabin on the property that serves as a getting ready suite for brides was built in the early 1800’s.

Old House Winery

Old House Winery in Culpepper, Virginia has one of my favorite outdoor reception spaces.  The natural wood inside the pavillion is the perfect backdrop for almost any wedding decor.  The windows and large barn doors can be opened to the outside to maximize views of the nearby pond and let in the amazing sunsets.  At the pier at the end of the pond the venue also provides couples with the option to place a “love lock” on the dock.  This is a fun and unique tradition that you could revisit every year on your anniversay!  The large chess set in front of the main house provides a touch of whimsy and entertainment on warm summer evenings.

Oatlands Plantation

The Oatlands historic house and garden in Leesburg, Virginia began construction in 1804 and after a war embargo and several style changes the house was finished in the 1820’s along with the accompanying gardens.  The historic house has had a long and varied history, much of which is preserved in this stunning venue.  My favorite areas are the garden and the greenhouse.  Full of Southern history and tradition, Oatlands is a magical place for an elegant Southern wedding.

 

Albemarle Ciderworks

Outside Charlotesville, Virginia Albemarle Ciderworks focuses on heirloom varietals and appreciates history, tradition and craft.  The orchards make a lovely backdrop for wedding ceremonies and let’s face it, if a wedding has a lovely backdrop, cider, and cake you know that I am a fan!

Early Mountain Vineyards

The ballroom at Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, Virginia is unlike any other ballroom for your wedding.  The entire space is the perfect blend of rustic elegance and modern simplicity.  The space is large enough to fit all of your guests comfortably while still maintaining a romantic,  intimate feel – especially when lit by candle light.  The winery also boasts a lovely stone patio and grounds with several barns.  The guest cottage on the property is filled with sunlight and plush couches that invite you to relax and stay awhile.

Castle Hill Cider

The barn at Castle Hill Cider has a clean, classic white exterior and soaring wooden beams inside that are the perfect backdrop for your rustic wedding.  Located on the historic Castle Hill Estate  in Keswick, Virginia Castle Hill Cider’s many indoor and outdoor sites offer endless possibilities close to both Charlotteville and Culpepper.  This venue has a lake, linden grove, orchards, and views of the mountains all in one place.
