Stone Tower Winery, perched on over 200 acres atop Hogback Mountain, was born of the owner’s love of the hills surrounding this venue just south of Leesburg, Virginia.

I have been lucky enough to shoot at Stone Tower Winery numerous times since I moved to Virginia, both for myself and as a second shooter for other photographers.

As you approach the winery you are more often than not greeted by the curious and friendly horses and cows that call the pastures surrounding the winery home.  The winding road forces you to slow down and enjoy the beautiful scenery stretched for miles in all directions.

The tasting barn at Stone Tower Winery is constructed of warm wood on the exterior and the inside is painted in a creamy white that feels open and inviting.  In the Summer and Fall they roll open the overhead doors to the patio so that you can wander from the tasting room out onto one of the patios or out the back barn door onto the lawns overlooking the vineyard.

The family also owns a furniture company which is apparent in the well decorated spaces.

The upstairs of the tasting room barn, used mostly for winery events, can be used for smaller gatherings, though with the addition of the Vineyard View Ballroom Stone Tower Winery can host weddings of over 200 guests.

The vinery itself and the vines make for stunning portraits any time of year – green in the Spring and Summer and auburn hued in the Fall.  The winery currently has 55 acres of vines planted with plans to expand to 90 acres in the near future.

Weddings in the Vineyard View Ballroom also include the use of the Virginia Room – complete with en suite bathrooms – to use while getting ready for the wedding or to relax after the ceremony is complete.

Another option for getting ready is the guest cottage, conveniently located just up the road from the winery.  The cottage is comfortable and private – perfect for a bride to get ready for her big day.

Stone Tower Winery offers three options for ceremony locations onsite; in the vines atop the red vineyard hill, along the pond framed by the iconic hobbit-esque doors of the wine-grotto, or  in the Tank Room for inclement weather.

The natural beauty of the grounds at Stone Tower Winery are the perfect backdrop for your rustic winery wedding in any season.

The subtle greens and blues of the rolling hills in summer are the perfect backdrop for bright and colorful weddings while the more subdued rust and sage colors of Fall make an elegant natural color palette.
