At last we are done with the hard stuff and moving on to the fun parts of organizing your photography collection!
This week we are going to make a plan to get your photos off of your disks and drives and out into your life.
Alright, you’ve done the hard work of getting your photos together, creating a system for organizing them, cataloguing your images, purging them, adding keywords, and backing them up and now you get to make those digital files and prints into works of art for your home.
There are literally hundreds of different products out there to present and display your photos. I am going to simplify things a bit and focus on a few major categories.
Wall Art
Wall art encompasses anything from framed prints to canvases, either individually or as a grouping.
Framed prints we are all familiar with. Canvases are great for larger images and make a big impact when grouped together to cover an entire wall.
Albums
Personally, I love albums as a way to display your images. An album allows you to go beyond a single beautiful image and really tell a story in a way that you really cannot replicate in any other medium.
I love albums so much, in fact, that I offer four different types of albums to fit every taste and budget from $100 to $1,000 and beyond.
Try making an album of all of your images from each year!
Image Boxes
Image boxes are a great way to collect photos along with other memorobelia – think ticket stubs, invitations, children’s artwork – together in one place.
I like to think of this as less organized person scrapbooking 🙂
Specialty Products
Once you go outside the realm of traditional photo and press printing techniques the options are endless…
Printing on wood
Burlap or canvas with a barnwood frame
prints on metal
The possibilities are nearly limitless.
This week I want you to choose at least 1-5 images and get them made into a physical product of some sort that you can display in your home.
Get creative and share the results with me!
